Dogfish Head Brewery - Midas Touch

I respect Dogfish for their wanton disregard for convention. They are more exploratory than most craft breweries and for that, I love you Dogfish. Also, I used to vacation right near the brewery when I was a youngster. That's right, I grew up on the East Coast. Didn't know that? Fuck you. I grew up in DC and moved to Portland, OR when I was 18. Have a fucking problem with that? No? I didn't fucking think so. In any case, I saw the 'Midas Touch' (an Ancient Ale brewed with barley, honey, white muscat grapes, and saffron) at my local bottle shop and I asked the friendly staff, "so does this beer taste like shit or what?" They gave me a fake ass laugh and said it was actually quite good. I didn't believe them but I decided to buy it anyway just for shits and giggles. I opened this beer with the worst of expectations but it turns out it is really, really fucking good. This is the perfect summer brew (a good kolsch aside) and I am very, very impressed. Pair it with food as you would a white wine. Excellent, excellent beer. Not to mention it is 9% ABV. Hell-to-the-motherfucking-yeah. 5 out of 5. Buy it.

Good luck finding it in your crappy state!

History geek, huh? My degree is in Theology. Specifically, Patristic Christian Mysticism and I translated it out of Ancient Greek and wrote commentaries on it. I am a history nerd too!

Ah, the roots of Orthodox Christianity? Now that would be an interesting read!

As for the Midas Touch, the local BevMo has it, so I'm not totally out of luck! As much as I fuckin' HATE California, there are still a few resources here.

You know what's really fuckin' awesome? Andy Tveekrem, the brewer at DFH that is the genius behind many of their great beers, has signed on to be the brewmaster of a new brewpub here in Cleveland. It will be across the street from Great Lakes Brewing Co. (The big guys in town) where he actually started his brewing career in the 90s. It will also be our first micro distillery! We got him bitches!

We're super huge dogfish fans. I'm a 60 minute fan and husband is a 90and 120 min fan. So who would like this one better? I don't like beer that's crazy hoppy.
