Let me start by saying the Mikkeller Simcoe IPA is amazing. Excellent in every way, shape, and form. It is a perfect example of a fantastic Northwest IPA. "Wait. What? Mikkeller does not sound like a Northwest brewery! It sounds like some foreign shit." You are actually correct. Shocking. This beer is brewed in Belgium with an American hop varietal, simcoe. "So basically some dudes in Belgium imported hops from the Northwest, brewed the beer in Belgium as an American style IPA, and then shipped it all the way back to the Northwest to be consumed? That gives farm-to-plate a whole new meaning." No shit, huh? While this beer is totally the bomb, it is $5 for a 11.2oz bottle. If it did not have to go through all that transport, the price would obviously be lower and therefore a total winner. Taste gets a 5 out of 5 but the price gets a 3 out of 5. But, I do have to say, you should definitely try it once. Drink it.
You suck at cooking. You fuck up rice. You think Cayenne is that fat bitch from around the way and Old Bay is the piece of shit that keeps calling the cops on you and your boys. Stop being such a fucking loser and grow a brain. Cooking is easy as shit. Learn it.

Mikkeller - Simcoe Single Hop IPA

Not to be an asshole but Mikeller is Danish not belgian. But yeah they do kick a hell of a lot of ass and are maybe my favorite foreign brewery and worth seeking out their beers. They have some other brews in the single-hop series like Warrior and Nelson Sauvin that are awesome too. Fun to have them side by side and really appreciate the flavor of different hops. I also recommend checking out 'US Alive' 'Stateside IPA' 'Beer Geek Breakfast' among many others by them.
I know from their website they are Danish but one the bottle it says brewed in Belgium.
yeah so the story is they dont actually have a brewery. They just brew on other peoples systems all over. So yeah that was probably brewed in Belgium but they are not a belgian brewery since they are danish.
Pretty amazing they can make so many awesome beers on different peoples systems that they dont know.
But yeah close enough.
So is there even a real Danish Scene with its own subcategory or are these dudes regional pioneers?
There may be. There is one other well known brewery from Denmark called Olfabrikken that also is producing some american styles of beers and are pretty awesome but not quite as impressive as Mikkeller. They do make the Olfabrikken Porter which is in my top 5 of that style and is pretty freakin amazing.
Also they do a lot of spiced beers or stuff with different ingredients. They have like 3 different winter beers of different styles. Recently they came out with a pretty good Coconut Porter. I am talking about Olfabrikken by the way not Mikkeller
